This was the scene over the Christmas holidays. SNOW. Even though I live in what has been (mis) labeled as the "Great White North", we, here on the wet/west coast, do not do snow. The rest of Canada and the midwest and eastern states get that dry, crunchy snow that is a piece of cake to deal with. Over on the west coast, when we do get snow (rarely) it is extremely wet. This means that it is extremely treacherous to drive on. It is icy. Very icy. Temperatures usually hover around the freezing mark. This means that what melts during the day freezes at night. Also, because we do get snow so rarely, the municipalities do not have much in the way of snow removal equipment or budgets. I know that the rest of Canada laughs at our whining when we get a whiff of the white stuff, but, it is legit. Believe me. It is! The guys in my life all have big 4 wheel drive trucks. This is play time for them. My car does not have 4 wheel drive. Thus it was parked for a full 3 weeks while this horrid white stuff tried to decide whether it was coming or going. Can you say CABIN FEVER???? Thankfully, it is now GONE. Whew. Hopefully, we will not see it again for another 10 years.Incidentally, that Spotted Towee in the second last picture cleared that snow all by him/her self. They have this cool way of jumping on the snow and kicking back. We could not figure out why that patch of ground was brown instead of white until we saw him in action.

WOW! that's a lot of snow. What pretty and clever little birds you have!
OK, forgive me, but your snow looks beautiful...I know....too much of a good thing perhaps. We are just getting our first snowfall of the season here in N VA, it may be up to 5", we shall see.
That birdie is so beautiful and industrious too. At first I thought it was a robin red breast.
